Program

In Tashibu-no-Shou, a place with 1,200 years of history and a traditional rural landscape, we will hold “Sounds of Nature Restaurant” where you can enjoy the blessings of nature and locally produced foods while enjoying the sounds of nature. In addition, this tour offers a chance to explore the history and customs of Bungotakada while being healed by nature, including the experience of warking around in a precious natural setting that preserves the manor landscape of the Middle Ages and cooking “manor rice”, which is produced in Tashibu-no-Shou, in a kamado (a traditional Japanese cooking pot).

Manor and Natural forest Walking

Bungotakada City is rich in both nature and historical culture, with historical sites related to culture, World Agricultural Heritage Sites, and rural village landscapes. This Walking experience takes you along the paths around Tashibu-no-Shou, feeling the sounds of nature as you go. While listening to the guide, you will visit the Kannon-sama (a statue of the Buddhist Mercy) that is standing quietly in the mountain and an observatory where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Tashibu-no-Shou.

Shouen-mai (manor rice) Kamado Cooking Experience

Tashibu-no-Shou was once the manor of Usa-jingu Shrine. Even today, the rice harvested in this area is dedicated to Usa-jingu Shrine at the “Kenkoku-sai (grain offering ceremony)” held every November. The rice named “Shouen-mai”(manor rice) is very sweet and rich in aroma. You will experience cooking the Shouen-mai with kamado (a traditional Japanese cooking pot) and taste freshly cooked rice.

Sounds of Nature Restaurant

This is a restaurant where you can enjoy the blessings of nature and local products while being healed by the sound of nature in the scenery of Tashibu-no-Shou. The menu is rich in contents with the delicacies of Tashibu, including “Shouen-mai” produced at Tashibu-no-Shou, “Bungo rice-finished beef” raised on feed rice produced in Oita Prefecture, and local sake made from manor rice.

Please enjoy a premium dinner while listening to the sounds of nature such as the sounds of the rice plants swaying in the breeze, chirping of the insects, and whisper of the wind.

At Tashibu-no-Shou, there is a rock peak called “Mato no iwa (Mato rock)” and the moon rises between the rock peaks at night. It is said that people in the past loved this view of the Mato rocks and the moon, and composed poems about it. Tashibu-no-Shou has remained unchanged for 1,200 years.
